* Santa Clara County Sheriffs Arrest 24-year-Old Jesus Ochoachacon And Destroy His Pot Garden Worth $18 Million

Narcotics officers arrested one suspect tending a marijuana plantation that was ultimately destroyed in rural Santa Clara County on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.A marijuana eradication team secured a pot garden of more than 6,000 plants located off of Hicks Road in the San Jose foothills at around 8 a.m., according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. During the operation, deputies contacted two suspects tending the plants, one of whom escaped arrest by fleeing into the hills.The remaining suspect, 24-year-old Jesus Ochoachacon, was taken into custody and booked at Santa Clara County main jail for allegedly cultivating and maintaining a marijuana garden. Ochoachacon’s bail was set at $1 million, according to the sheriff’s office.Deputies reported that the grow operation consisted of two large garden areas connected by well-established foot trails, producing an estimated 6,100 mature plants that were destroyed Wednesday. The sheriff’s office estimated that the street value of the seized plants was more than $18 million.Since April, sheriff’s narcotics teams have reported destroying more than 90,000 marijuana plants worth an estimated $270 million.
