Windsor police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of a 49-year-old man in an apartment early this morning. Arthur Marquez, 39, of Windsor is in custody in the Sonoma County jail, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Capt. Matt McCaffrey said. The victim’s identity is not yet being released, McCaffrey said.Marquez and the victim had an earlier confrontation around 9 p.m. Wednesday, McCaffrey said. Windsor police went to the Duncan Drive Apartments at 320 Duncan Drive on a medical assistance call around 4:30 a.m. today, Windsor police Sgt. Steve Gordon said. The victim was pronounced dead after deputies arrived. McCaffrey said the victim was not stabbed or shot and the cause of death is pending an autopsy. Marquez has previous contacts with law enforcement, McCaffrey said. He and the victim were acquaintances and the homicide was not drug- or gang-related, McCaffrey said.Other people who were in the residence when the homicide occurred were interviewed this afternoon, McCaffrey said.Windsor police initially said the death was suspicious.The sheriff’s department provides police services to Windsor.
