Pleasant Hill police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or people who set fire to a police services building at Diablo Valley College a year ago Tuesday. The fire was reported in the early morning hours of June 23, 2008, on the southeast end of campus on Golf Club Road in Pleasant Hill. Damage to the police services building, estimated at more than $500,000, has forced the college’s Police Department to relocate to a different part of the campus, according to police Detective Jason Kleven.
Police released images taken from a surveillance video in the weeks after the incident that appear to show a male suspect setting the fires. The suspect appears to be a white or light-skinned male wearing a camouflage jacket and cap. In two of the photos, he can be seen holding an ax in one hand while he throws what appears to be a flaming object onto debris piled next to a building.
