A 50-year-old Oakland man pleaded guilty in federal court in San Francisco on Thursday for distributing drugs that was purported to popular erectile dysfunction pills on the Internet without a prescription, according to U.S. Attorney Joseph P. Russoniello. Roger L. Hollins Roberts, formerly Roger L. Hollins, admitted to operating Web Sites known as www.viagra-on-wheels.com and www.sexpills-on-wheels.com, which advertised specialized delivery service of brand-name prescription erectile dysfunction drugs such as Viagra and Cialis.  The Web Sites advertised local or overnight mail delivery of thedrugs, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The drugs Roberts sold on the Web sites were imported from China and Mexico, and bore the labels “Viagra” and “Cialis” while containing the same active ingredients as those drugs. He also claimed falsely on the sites that the drugs were approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, that they were obtained directly from licensed pharmaceutical manufacturers, and that they were sold in compliance with FDA regulations, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Roberts has never been registered as a pharmacist or licensed medical practitioner in California. He was charged on April 16 with misbranding drugs while held for sale with intent to defraud or mislead, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The arrest was made after a 18-month-long investigation by the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations. The sentencing of Roberts is scheduled for September 24. “Our prosecution of…Roberts, and others who traffic in counterfeit prescription drugs, should serve as fair warning to people that they are wrong to think the benefits of quick profits outweigh the risks of apprehension and punishment,” Russoniello said in a statement.
