Salinas police are searching for a man who stabbed a 23-year-old woman in her legs after he tried to choke her on a street Saturday night.  Police said the woman was walking near the intersection of East Market Street and Kings Street at about 10:30 p.m. when a man in his 20s wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans approached her. The two began talking while they walked toward the man’s 1980s Chevrolet Lumina. As they were walking, the suspect began choking the woman, according to the Police Department. The victim tried to pepper spray the suspect, but the man removed a pocketknife and stabbed the victim in the front of her left leg and in the back of her right leg.  The suspect fled in his vehicle.  The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, according to police.  Please call the Fugitive Watch hot line at 1-800-9-CAUGHT (1-800-922-8448) or text us at 408-355-0999 if you have any information.
