Fairfield police arrested two teenage boys Saturday afternoon for allegedly snatching someone’s cell phone inside a mall in the city. The robbery occurred at about 3 p.m. inside the Westfield Solano Shopping Center at 1350 Travis Blvd., according to police. The suspects apparently approached a male victim, who they knew prior to the encounter, and after a brief conversation they reached out and tore the phone away from a lanyard that the victim was wearing around his neck, police said. The victim followed the suspects and a brief physical altercation ensued before both suspects ran out of the mall, according to police. The victim and his friends tried to follow the suspects, and tried to call the cell phone after losing sight of them. The phone began to ring, helping the victim to relocate the suspects and leading to another brief altercation, police said. The victim was able to flag down a passing Fairfield police officer and report the robbery, and the officer detained the two teens. The cell phone was never recovered, according to police. The first suspect, a 15-year-old Fairfield boy, was booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall for robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime, and a probation violation. The second suspect, a 16-year-old Fairfield boy, was booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall for robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime, police said.
