A 2-year-old girl who was shot while sleeping in her home early Friday morning is in serious, but stable condition today after undergoing surgery, a Vallejo police lieutenant said. The shooting happened in the 500 block of York Street shortly before 3 a.m. Shots were fired into the house from an alley behind the
residence, Sgt. Don Hendershot said. Bullets went through a wall and at least one struck the girl in the torso. Police believe the home was most likely targeted in error by the shooter, and that the intended target lives elsewhere. She was flown to Children’s Hospital Oakland and underwent surgery, police said. She is expected to survive, Lt. Lee Horton said.
