Santa Rosa police said a man who was shot in the face at a party early Sunday morning remains hospitalized today but is expected to recover
from his injuries. Police are not releasing the victim’s name for safety reasons, Sgt. Lisa Banayat said. A $2,500 reward also has been offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects. Banayat said the 21-year-old man who was shot was among as many as 200 people who attended a party Saturday night for five Santa Rosa Junior College football players who were moving from the area. After five male suspects were denied entry to the party, one of them fired several rounds from a gun at around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Banayat said. One of the rounds struck the victim and the suspects walked away, Banayat said. The suspects might have left in a dark sedan but because many partygoers were leaving at that time, an exact description of the vehicle is unavailable, Banayat said. The shots may not have been fired from a vehicle as previously reported, Banayat said. Police believe as many as 50 people might have seen at least part of the incident and many who left before police arrived might have more information, Banayat said. The Sonoma County Alliance’s “Take Back Our Community” program has offered the $2,500 reward.
