Police have arrested a second person in connection with the death of a 16-year-old boy who was found intoxicated and unresponsive at a party in Orinda on Saturday, Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said today. Orinda police and emergency medical personnel were called to a home in the 100 block of Hillcrest Drive at about 11 p.m., where they found the Orinda teen, Joseph Loudon, unresponsive. A large party had been held at the house, Lee said. Loudon was taken by ambulance to the Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at about midnight. An autopsy was conducted this morning, but the cause of death is pending results from toxicology tests, Lee said. Results from those tests usually take six to eight weeks. On Sunday, Orinda police arrested 18-year-old Orinda resident Patrick Gabrielli on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a person under 21 years old, Lee said. Gabrielli was booked into county jail in Martinez but later posted bail. On Monday, police arrested a 16-year-old boy on similar charges. The teenager, whose name is not being released because he is a minor, was released to the custody of his father. Orinda police are continuing to investigate Loudon’s death and are asking anyone with information to call investigators at (925) 284-5010.
