The San Francisco medical examiner’s office today identified 49-year-old Levit Chavez as the man who was fatally stabbed in San Franciscoon Sunday, allegedly by his son. Officers responded to Chavez’s home at 49 Ceres St. at about 10:25 a.m. after Chavez’s wife called police to report a family disturbance, according to San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams. The officers found Chavez dead at the home and his wife suffering from life-threatening stab wounds, Williams said. The woman remained hospitalized today, police said. Chavez’s 22-year-old son, who allegedly left the home after the stabbing, was found at a Walgreens store several blocks from his father’s house after a person at the store called police to report a man acting suspicious, Williams said. Williams said the son was taken into custody, but information on his charges was not immediately available. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
