May 24, 2009 SAN MATEO CO.: UPDATE: 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL SCOUT FOUND AFTER MISSING OVERNIGHT
An 11-year-old Girl Scout was found on a boulder in a ravine this morning after she had been missing overnight from a camping excursion at Camp Cutter in San Mateo County,a sheriff’s lieutenant said.It took three hours to rescue the girl off the moss-covered boulder in the northeast quadrant of the camp after she was found around 10:20 a.m., Lt. Ray Lunny said.She was suffering from minor hypothermia and cuts and transferred to Stanford Hospital for medical evaluation, Lunny said.The girl was on a camping trip with other Girl Scouts and was reported missing from the campgrounds off state Highway 9 around 2:40 p.m. Saturday, he said.More than 150 people from San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa, Santa Cruz and Alameda counties and Cal Fire, the California Rescue Dog Association and Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit searched throughout the night.

An 11-year-old Girl Scout on a camping trip was reported missing in San Mateo County earlier this afternoon, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. Santa Cruz County sheriff’s deputies received the report that she was missing at around 4:30 p.m., according to a sheriff’s dispatcher. Sheriff’s deputies from Santa Cruz and San Mateo counties conducted a search, but the Santa Cruz County sheriff’s dispatcher said at 11 p.m. that she did not think the girl had been found. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
