Santa Cruz County’s first two probable cases of swine flu, now referred to as the H1N1 virus, were announced today, according to a spokeswoman with the county’s health services agency. The two people who tested positive for the virus, a 37-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl, have both fully recovered, according to agency spokeswoman Dinah Phillips. The correlation between probable and confirmed cases of the virus is very high, and health officials are responding as if the cases were confirmed. Close contacts of the patients were identified and appropriate control measures were implemented to contain the spread of the virus, according to the agency.
