The San Mateo County coroner’s office has identified 39-year-old Jason Chin as the motorcyclist killed in a collision on southbound Interstate Highway 280 in Daly City early this morning. The CHP responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on the highway just south of the John Daly Tunnel at about 12:20 a.m. The Daly City resident, who was reported by witnesses to have been speeding and changing lanes, was thrown off his motorcycle when he rear-ended
a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am and was subsequently struck by at least three other vehicles, CHP Officer Robert Haven said. Chin was pronounced dead on the highway. All southbound lanes were closed for more than two hours while medical crews and the CHP cleared the area. They were reopened around 2:45
a.m. It has not been determined if alcohol was a factor in the collision, according to the CHP.
