* San Jose Man Jason Michael Rasul, 31, Arrested On Suspicion Of Robbing Petaluma Bank Of The West, 311 N McDowell Blvd

A San Jose man was arrested on suspicion of robbing the Bank of the West in Petaluma Monday morning after he was spotted leaving the scene in a taxi, police said Monday afternoon.Jason Michael Rasul, 31, matched the description of the man who robbed the bank at 311 N McDowell Blvd around 9:05 a.m., Sgt. Mark Hunter said.The suspect wrote a demand note on a deposit slip and gave it to a teller as she was opening for the day, Hunter said. No weapon was seen and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money, Hunter said.Police found the suspect’s jacket next to Ideal Stationers about 300 yards from the bank in the Plaza North Shopping Center, Hunter said. Officers searched the shopping center and walked through stores for a half-hour looking for the suspect.Lt. Tim Lyons was patrolling the parking lot in an unmarked car when he saw a taxicab driving from the Petco store in the shopping center, Hunter said. The passenger in the cab matched the description of the robbery suspect and Lyons stopped the cab and detained Rasul, Hunter said.Rasul was identified by witnesses as the bank robbery suspect and he had the money taken during the robbery, Hunter said.Rasul was booked under no bail in the Sonoma County jail for bank robbery and violation of parole, Hunter said.
