* San Jose Police Officers Matthew Blackerby and Brian Jeffrey, Fatally Shoot Daniel Pham After He Stabbed A family Member Then Charged Them With A knife

The San Jose Police Department released the names today of the two officers involved in the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man who allegedly refused to drop his knife.Officers Matthew Blackerby and Brian Jeffrey have been placed on paid administrative leave per departmental procedure following the Sunday morning shooting of San Jose resident Daniel Pham, police said.Authorities had responded to a report of a family disturbance around 11:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Branbury Way.Officers learned a 29-year-old man had been stabbed and when they arrived, they confronted Pham, who was holding a knife, according to police.The officers ordered Pham to drop the knife several times but he allegedly refused. Pham then reportedly charged at the officers with the knife and held the weapon in a threatening manner, police said.At least one of the officers discharged his weapon, striking Pham. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The 29-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the San Jose Police Department at (408) 277-5283.
