A 34-year-old man who was shot in the torso in Salinas on Friday night died at a local hospital, according to police. At about 8:30 p.m., officers responded to shots fired in the 700 block of E. Market Street. A man was found in the driveway of a home suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso, police said. Witnesses reported seeing two male suspects running from the residence wearing dark sweatshirts with the hoods pulled down over their faces. According to police, the victim was given CPR while being transported to Natividad Medical Center. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital. It was the 13th homicide in Salinas in 2009.
