* Oakland Police Identify 21-Year-Old Marcus Gill As Victim Killed In His Car At 98th Avenue And Cherry Street

The Alameda County coroner’s bureau and Oakland police identified 21-year-old Marcus Gill as the victim who was shot and killed in his car Friday afternoon. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of 98th Avenue and Cherry Street at about 4:10 p.m., according to police spokesman Jeff Thomason. Officers confirmed that a shooting had taken place, but not at the reported intersection. Gill had been shot at the intersection of 98th Avenue and International Boulevard and managed to drive himself as far as Cherry Street, where he succumbed to gunshot wounds, according to Thomason.Gill was taken to Highland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.Police continue to investigate the homicide and have yet to determine a motive or publicly identify any suspects.

    Oakland is a killing field, many no the victims like many no the people who did these crimes. I feel sorry for our young black men out here they have no goals, no ambition, no drive just dreams.. I pray one day this cycle of death and crime will one day cease in the mean time we have to keep losing the ones we love.
