Four people were injured in Gilroy on Saturday night when someone in a passing vehicle fired a shotgun into a crowd at an outdoor party, according to police. Just after 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of injuries at a party in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 7537 Rogers Lane, according to the Gilroy Police Department. Witnesses said a man drove by in a Chevrolet pickup truck and fired one round from a shotgun aimed into the crowd of around 20 partygoers. Four were hit by the spray of shotgun pellets and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two parked vehicles were also hit, police reported. The motive for the drive-by shooting was not immediately clear. Police reported they had no reason to suspect the violence was gang related.
