Police in Oakland released more details Friday night surrounding the death of a man who was shot to death in his car that afternoon. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of 98th Avenue and Cherry Street at about 4:10 p.m., according to police spokesman Jeff Thomason. Officers confirmed that a shooting had taken place, but not at the reported intersection. A man had been shot at the intersection of 98th Avenue and International Boulevard and had managed to drive himself as far as Cherry Street where he succumbed to gunshot wounds, according to Thomason. Medical personnel were called to the scene and transported the victim to Highland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police continue to investigate the homicide and have yet to determine a motive or identify any suspects.
