A 19-year-old man who was fatally shot Saturday evening in Oakland has been identified by the Police Department today as Deontae Johnson.At about 5:05 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of East 31st Street, Officer Jeff Thomason said. Responding officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.Both men were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Johnson, of Oakland, was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital, Thomason said. The second victim is expected to survive.Homicide investigators learned the identity of the shooter during the investigation, and a 16-year-old Oakland resident was arrested after being spotted riding on a bus, Thomason said.The suspect was questioned at the Oakland Police Department and allegedly admitted shooting the two victims. The name of the minor and the motive for the shooting are not being released. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact homicide investigators at (510) 238-3821.
