Police arrested a 36-year-old San Pablo man on suspicion of felony drunken driving and child endangerment after he crashed his car in Concord on Tuesday with four young children inside, police Lt. Jim Lardieri said today.Police received a call shortly after 5 p.m. reporting a single-vehicle rollover crash that was blocking the northbound lanes of East Street near Bacon Street, Lardieri said. The driver, Toribio Trujillo, and four children ages 3 to 7 were inside the car, which was flipped on its side in the roadway. One of the children sustained major injuries to his hand. He was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Concord and then transferred to Davies Medical Center in San Francisco for additional treatment, Lardieri said. He is expected to survive. The other three children sustained minor injuries. They were treated at John Muir Medical Center and later released to relatives.Trujillo is the father of three of the children, but he is not related to the one with the injured hand, Lardieri said.Investigators allegedly determined Trujillo was drunk at the time of the crash and was driving on a suspended license. He also had an outstanding warrant for a prior drunken driving incident, Lardieri said.He will likely be charged with felony drunken driving causing bodily injury and child endangerment, Lardieri said, but investigators are waiting for results from a blood test before they bring the case to the district attorney’s office for filing. In the meantime, Trujillo has posted bail and is no longer in custody, officials said.
