The Solano County coroner’s office has identified 61-year-old Thomas Ward, of Fairfield, as the victim of a solo-motorcycle crash in Vacaville late Friday night. The accident was reported around 11:45 p.m. on the transition road from southbound Interstate Highway 505 to eastbound Interstate Highway 80, the California Highway Patrol said. The CHP arrived nine minutes later and found the 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle on the road but not the driver, CHP Officer M. Williford said At 11 a.m. Saturday, Ward’s wife contacted the CHP to report her husband did not return home the night before, Williford said. Two CHP patrol cars and an aircraft searched the area and Ward’s body was found in heavy brush a considerable distance from where his motorcycle was found, Williford said.Ward was wearing a helmet and it appears intoxication may have played a part in the crash, Williford said. It is unknown if Ward lost control of the motorcycle or if he suffered a medical emergency, Williford said. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
