Los Altos police tonight released a sketch of a man who reportedly approached a boy outside his house Tuesday before the child retreated back into the home. A 10-year-old boy was getting the mail in front of his home in the 100 block of Garland Way when a man pulled up in a light-colored station wagon, police said. The man got out of his car, approached the boy and held out his hand, Sgt. John Korges said. The man did not speak, but the boy went back inside the house immediately and told his mother, who informed police, according to Korges.Police can’t be certain of the man’s intentions, but Korges said the child felt that the man was trying to lure him into the car.Korges called the behavior “odd and suspect,” and said the man is wanted on suspicion of annoying a child, a misdemeanor. The suspect is described as an older white male, with a receding hairline and a medium-length white beard.Korges urged parents and children to be vigilant and exercise a normal amount of caution. Please call the Fugitive Watch hot line at 1-800-9-CAUGHT (1-800-922-8448).
