*Oakland Identifies Giovanna Warren As Women Shot In Broad Daylight

A 24-year-old woman who was fatally shot in a car Friday afternoon has been identified by the Oakland Police Department as Giovanna Warren.Another person who was in the car with Warren also was shot and was listed in critical but stable condition, according to the Oakland Police Department. At about 4:30 p.m. Friday, Emeryville Police Department Sgt. F. Sierras saw someone firing a handgun from a pickup truck into a car in the 3200 block of San Pablo Avenue in Oakland. Warren, who was an Oakland resident, and another person were shot.Emeryville police officers located the suspect’s truck abandoned in the 800 block of 32nd street.Alameda County sheriff’s deputies detained a possible suspect in the 3200 block of West Street. The registered owner of the suspect vehicle allegedly attempted to report it stolen and was detained by officers. Both suspects were booked into jail. It was the 23rd homicide in Oakland this year, according to the Police Department.Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department Homicide Section at (510) 238-3821.
