Palo Alto police have released the identity of a 19-year-old man who is being sought in connection with a shooting in the rear of an apartment
complex this afternoon, police Agent Dan Ryan said.The shooting happened sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the 500 block of Arastradero Road, Ryan said. The victim, a 20-year-old San Jose man, ran down the block and was found at El Camino Real and Maybell Avenue.He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for two gunshot wounds and is expected to survive, Ryan said.Police have named Daniel Gil-Fernandez, who lives at the apartment complex where the shooting occurred, as a suspect in the case, according to Ryan. Officers searched his apartment unit in an effort to find Gil-Fernandez and briefly detained his brother, Ryan said.The shooting appears to be gang-related, Ryan said.The incident prompted a brief lockdown of Gunn High School and Juana Briones Elementary School, but most students had already left the campuses prior to the shooting.
