*San Jose Released ID Of Second Victim In Fatal Saturday Morning Crash

The second victim of an early Saturday morning fatal crash was identified Monday as San Jose resident Israel Raya, according to the Police Department.The crash was reported shortly before 1 a.m. at Tasman and Renaissance drives, San Jose police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.San Jose resident Adam Mendoza, 20, was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition with three passengers east on Tasman Drive when he lost control near Renaissance Drive and crashed, first into a road median and then into a street pole, according to Lopez.San Jose resident Rafael Naranjo, 18, and Raya, 17, were sitting in the back seats of the car and were pronounced dead at the scene.A 17-year-old girl sitting in the front passenger seat suffered moderate injuries.Mendoza, who suffered minor injuries, allegedly fled the crash, but returned shortly after with his father and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run, Lopez said.Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.Charges against Mendoza have not been filed and the case is under review, Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Amy Cornell said Monday.Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Investigator Kevin Cassidy (408) 277-4654.
