*East Palo Alto Man Shot In Hand During Struggle With Gun

Authorities are investigating a shooting in East Palo Alto on Saturday that injured a 27-year-old man, police said today.Officers responded to 32 Buchannan Court to reports of a shooting around 12:45 p.m. and found the victim, city resident John Petelo, suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand, according to police.Petelo was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. He told authorities that two males in their late teens had come to Petelo’s home looking for his cousin, police said.One of the teens pointed a handgun at Petelo’s face, and, fearing for his life, Petelo grabbed the barrel of the gun, according to police.A struggle ensued that resulted in Petelo being shot in the hand, police said.After the shooting the suspects fled the scene.Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information regarding the suspects is asked to call East Palo Alto Detective Tracy Turner
