*Richmond Coronor Identifies Teen Shot At Birthday Party

A teenage boy who was fatally shot Saturday morning while attending a birthday party in Richmond has been identified as 16-year-old Salvador Cortez, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.The shooting was reported at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 3100 block of Ohio Avenue, according to Richmond police. Investigators were told that Cortez, a Richmond resident, had stepped outside a home where a relative’s birthday party was being held and was standing in front of the house when he was shot.Family members took Cortez to a local hospital, where he later died.An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, but police said it appears Cortez was shot once in the upper torso.Richmond police Sgt.
