*Mountain View Youth Soccer Volunteer Jailed For Alleged Sexual Assault

A Mountain View man who runs a soccer club for boys remained in Santa Clara County jail today in lieu of $2 million bail for allegedly molesting three young girls, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.Pedro Carbajal, 33, was arrested at his work in Palo Alto on Friday and has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, lewd or lascivious acts on a child by force, violence, duress, menace and fear, and two counts of lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14, district attorney’s office spokeswoman Amy Cornell said.Carbajal is suspected of molesting three girls ages 7 to 9 between October 1996 and October 1999, according to the district attorney’s office.Detectives began investigating Carbajal on Feb. 19 after receiving a phone call from a person one of the alleged victims had confided in, police said.Carbajal runs a soccer club for boys based out of Rengstorff Park in Mountain View and, in spring 2008, the Mountain View Police Activities League partnered with Carbajal and sponsored his all-boys club, police said.He became a volunteer for the police activities league program and in the summer of 2008 his team represented the league in a statewide soccer tournament.Police said there are no allegations of misconduct between Carbajal and the players he coached.Mountain View police have terminated Carbajal as a volunteer and are notifying parents of youth involved in the police activities league of the arrest, police said.Carbajal is scheduled to appear in court to enter a plea March 11.
