*Salinas Two Teenage Boys Dead Following Gang Related Shooting

Police are investigating a gang-related shooting that left two teenage boys dead this week.On Thursday at about 8 p.m., Carlos Mejia, 17, and Francisco Alfaro, 16, were standing in the parking lot area of 918 Acosta Plaza when they were approached by two males who each pulled out handguns and shot the teenagers several times, according to the Police Department. The suspects left the area Mejia was life-flighted to an area hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and lower body. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Alfaro, who also suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Salinas Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this shooting to contact Detective Villegas at (831) 758-7348 or Detective Gemette (831) 758-7129.
