*Fairfield Police Arrest Two After Finding Drugs, Weapon At Motel

A man and woman were arrested on weapon and drug charges Saturday night after a police security check led to the discovery of methamphetamine and a gun in a Fairfield motel room, according to police.Karl Peters, 45, and Linda Burns, 22, were arrested after officers made contact with them at about 9:10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Bella Vista Inn at 3331 N. Texas St., according to Fairfield police.Peters was on parole, and during a parole search, officers found him to be in possession of methamphetamine. Police also discovered Burns had two outstanding warrants for her arrest and took her into custody, police said.A subsequent search of the suspects’ motel room led the officers to discover a gun, as well as items commonly used in the packaging and sale of methamphetamine, according to police.Peters was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of controlled substances for sale, and a parole violation, police said.Burns was also booked into Solano County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of controlled substances for sale, as well as for the two outstanding warrants, according to police.
