MOUNTAIN VIEW: SOCCER INSTRUCTOR ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF MOLESTATION
A Mountain View man who runs a soccer club for boys was arrested today on suspicion of molesting three young girls, police said.Pedro Carbajal, 33, was arrested this morning at his work at 3175 Hanover St. in Palo Alto.Detectives began investigating Carbajal Feb. 19 after receiving a phone call from a person who one of the alleged victims had confided in, police said. Carbajal is suspected of molesting three girls ages 7 to 9 approximately five to 10 years ago, according to police. Carbajal runs a soccer club for boys based out of Rengstorff Park in Mountain View and, in spring 2008, the Mountain View Police Activities League partnered with Carbajal and sponsored his all-boys club, police said. He became a volunteer for the police activities league program and in the summer of 2008 his team represented the league in a statewide soccer tournament.Police said there are no allegations of misconduct between Carbajal and the players he coached.Mountain View police have terminated Carbajal as a volunteer and are notifying parents of youth involved in the police activities league of the arrest, police said. Carbajal had no other official affiliation with the Mountain View Police Department and his club was not affiliated with the city’s Community Services Department, police said.Carbajal was arrested for three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
