Jan 26, 2009 HIGH SCHOOL CUSTODIAN SUSPECTED OF MOLESTING YOUNG CHILD

A Saratoga High School custodian is being sought on suspicion of molesting a young child, San Jose police said today. San Jose police began investigating San Jose resident Juan Morales Jauregui, 38, after an online tip alleged that Jauregui was uploading child  pornography to the Internet. While serving a search warrant at Jauregui’s Terra Buena Drive home, police allegedly discovered videos and images of child pornography, as well as images of Jauregui molesting a young child. Police identified and interviewed the child shown in the images with Jauregui, who told investigators about several lewd acts that allegedly occurred over several years. The child was 7 years old at the time of the first incident, police said.Police have been unable to locate Jauregui, who has not been seen or heard from since Friday. He has family in Mexico but police are not sure whether he is headed there. Investigators say there is no indication that Jauregui had any inappropriate contact with Saratoga High School students. Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District Superintendent Cary Matsuoka said the district is surprised to hear of the allegations against a 13-year employee with no history of problems at his job.”We’re kind of shocked and saddened to learn that this potentially could have happened,” Mosuoka said.Matsuoka said there is no evidence to suggest that Jauregui committed any crimes against students at the school. Jauregui has been placed on administrative leave until the criminal case “plays out,” Matsuoka said. The district is working to develop the right tactic in notifying the school community of the allegations.”We are in the process of composing our communication to both the staff and the school community,” Matsuoka said this afternoon.Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Detective Kendra Nunes or Sgt. Randy Schriefer of the Sexual Assault Investigations or call fugitive watch hot line 1-8009-caught
