Jan 25, 2009 VACAVILLE: MAN ARRESTED AFTER DRIVING A STOLEN VEHICLE INTO A GREYHOUND BUS STATION

Vacaville police arrested a man who crashed a stolen flatbed truck into a Greyhound bus station on Mason Street Saturday evening after leading officers on a pursuit and disregarding traffic laws, according to police Police responded to a call around 10:30 p.m. from a concerned citizen who reported the driver of the truck, Brandon Savage, was driving erratically through several city side streets before entering the freeway, police said. Police located Savage taking the Allison Drive exit and initiated a traffic stop. Savage ignored the demand and led police on a pursuit southbound on Allison Drive and onto westbound Elmira Road. Savage drove over a raised cement center divider and into oncoming traffic to avoid police, before driving into the bus station where he sheered through a tree and struck the cement brick and metal pillar supporting a patio awning, according to police.Savage was arrested for vehicle theft, police evasion and disregard for the safety of others. Both Savage and the female passenger he had been traveling with were both taken to VacaValley Hospital. He was treated for facial injuries and then booked into Solano County Jail.The female passenger was treated for minor cuts and abrasions.

Jan 25, 2009 SANTA ROSA: TWO BROTHERS SHOT, ONE CRITICALLY WOUNDED, SUSPECT ARRESTED

A Santa Rosa man was arrested today in connection with a double shooting Saturday night that left two adult brothers wounded, one critically, police said.The shooting took place at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday at the brothers’ home in the 900 block of Aston Avenue, located in the southeastern part of the city, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Banayat.Police found one man, Jose Sanchez, shot multiple times. He is listed in critical condition.His brother, Julio Sanchez, was shot once and is expected to survive, Banayat said.The suspect, 30-year-old Isidro Godinez Flores, described as an acquaintance of the brothers, had apparently argued with them before the shooting, according to Banayat. She did not know what the argument was about.Police pulled over and arrested Flores as he was driving in Southern California early this morning, Banayat said.Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Violent Crimes Investigations Team at (707) 543-3590.

Jan 25, 2009 BENICIA: BROTHERS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Benicia police Friday arrested two brothers in connection with a residential burglary carried out while the victim was out of town. A woman who lives in the 500 block of Capitol Drive called police around 4:30 p.m. to report that she was out of town and received a call from a neighbor who saw a moving van parked outside the woman’s home, police said.Officers responded and found that the woman’s garage had been broken into, police said. Officers then saw 27-year-old Jesse Perez, of Vallejo, walking out of the home’s front door. Perez allegedly had some of the victim’s belongings with him and in the moving van, and he was arrested on suspicion of residential burglaryand possession of stolen property, police said. Further investigation led police to an unincorporated Solano County home in the 1200 block of Taylor Avenue, where Perez’s younger brother lives.Officers allegedly found items stolen from the Benicia home and arrested 24-year-old Elijah Perez, police said.Elijah Perez was arrested on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and a probation violation, police said. Investigators are also tryingto make a case for possession of stolen property charges against Elijah Perez.

Jan 25, 2009 SOLANO CO.: 18-YEAR-OLD MAN KILLED IN POSSIBLE ALCOHOL-RELATED CRASH

An 18-year-old man was found dead Friday evening after his vehicle apparently crashed into a tree off of Putah Creek Road in unincorporated Solano County, according to the California Highway Patrol. Investigators believe Winters resident Oscar Angulo was driving a 2001 Honda west on Putah Creek Road when his vehicle left the roadway, the CHP reported.The Honda, traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed into a tree on the north side of the roadway. The impact of the crash nearly split the Honda in half and sent it into another tree, the CHP reported.Angulo was not wearing his seatbelt and investigators reported smelling alcohol on him and in the Honda, according to the CHP. Invesitgators have not determined when the crash occurred but were notified around 6:30 p.m. when a witness found the scene.Angulo was pronounced dead by responding fire personnel, according to the CHP.
