On June 28, 2008, 24 year-old Omar Aquino and his sister, 27 year-old Maria Teresa Sanchez-Aquino, were shot to death, execution style, in their home in the 1900 block of Plymouth Ave.  Maria Teresa’s 8 year-old son was asleep in a bedroom when the murders occurred and the entire house was ransacked.  In the months after, MVPD detectives arrested six suspects in connection with this case and announced two more that were outstanding.

Fame Thomas, 15, Victoria Thompson, 20, and Nicory Spann, 18, were arrested on Aug. 21.  Michael David Adams, 20, was arrested the next day.  Kim Pham, 19, was arrested at Norman Mineta San Jose International Airport as she was attempting to flee California upon seeing herself on the news after a press conference held at the Mountain View Police Department.  Eric Williams, 22, was arrested on Sept. 2.  Fame Thomas is being tried as an adult.

The last two suspects were taken into custody today, Nov. 26, 2008.  Kenneth Thomas, 19, was arrested for two counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.  Faith Thomas, 17, his sister, was arrested for one count of conspiracy to commit murder and will be tried as an adult.

Kenneth and Faith Thomas were believed to have fled California after the murders and were thought to have been in Nevada, Georgia and Florida, among other states.  Kenneth Thomas is the suspected shooter in both murders.

Kenneth narrowly avoided being taken into custody in September when Georgia authorities were led to his motel room outside of Atlanta during an investigation of a missing female juvenile who was believed to be hiding out in the motel.  Kenneth fled from local police and was not located.  Kenneth is being investigated by police in Georgia as a possible suspect in three armed robberies after fleeing the motel.

MVPD Detectives worked with many agencies and organizations throughout the investigation and subsequent manhunt for the two remaining outstanding suspects, including the FBI and America’s Most Wanted.  Today, the FBI’s Los Angeles Fugitive Task Force, which also includes members from the LAPD and the Department of Corrections, located Kenneth Thomas and arrested him for his outstanding warrants without incident.  He was taken into custody at a hotel in Los Angeles this morning before 11AM.

After arresting Kenneth, FBI Agents were able to locate Faith Thomas, who was also taken into custody without incident at an apartment complex in Los Angeles in the late afternoon.  MVPD Detectives traveled to the LA area to continue the investigation.  As of this time, both suspects have been booked into an LA county jail pending extradition back to Santa Clara County for prosecution.
