“Hot Prowler” Burglary Suspect Sketch Released

*UPDATE: On 9-12-2008, the San Jose Police Department made an arrest in this case. Parolee Joseph Hoppa was arrested and charged with 22 counts of first-degree residential burglary and two counts of attempted first-degree residential burglary. Congratulations Detective Robert Froese and to the rest of SJPD.

San Jose Police has released a sketch of the suspect in multiple “Hot Prowler” burglaries that have occurred in the Cambrian area since early July. The suspect enters occupied homes through an open window or door and steals wallets, purses, cash or other small valuables.
Suspect Description: Light skinned white or Hispanic male, mid 20′s to mid 30′s, 5′-8″ to 6′-0″ tall, 160 lbs., dark blond or light brown hair.The public can minimize their chances of being a victim by doing the following.
- Lock and secure your windows and doors at all times.
- Add security lighting and motion detector lighting around the perimeter of your home.
- Remove or trim plants that block the view of your home/windows/doors.
- Consider installing a burglar alarm.
- Do not leave your wallet, purse or other valuables in plain view inside your home.
- Report any suspicious persons or vehicles by calling 911 immediately.
- Look out for your neighbors and community.
