The Hayward Police Department is asking for your help in identifying the person in this police sketch. Inspector Guimaraes reports that on January 13, 2008 about 4:05 PM, Hayward Police responded to an attempted child abduction in the residential neighborhood on Ithaca Street at Erie Place. The described suspect drove up to an eight-year-old Hispanic female, opened his passenger side door, and ordered the child to get into his vehicle. The child ran away from the suspect, who drove away northbound on Ithaca. The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20’s to early 30’s, about 5’7” – 5’10”, 140-180 lbs., light to medium complexion, with short dirty blonde or light brown hair and brown eyes. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a late 90’s to early 2000’s, “bluish-gray” Ford Explorer or Chevrolet Blazer. This incident appears to be related to a similar incident in Union City on November 15, 2008, in which a similarly described suspect approached three young girls and demanded that they get into his vehicle.
